Budget 2025: Canada’s Housing Plan

Prime Minister Mark Carney put it clearly, “Canada’s new government is relentlessly focused on bringing down housing costs...Central to that mission is rapidly scaling up the supply of homes.”

Budget 2025 backs those words with real action. It includes major investments that will help get homes built in every part of the country. It supports the workers and builders who make it happen. And it creates the tools local governments need to plan and grow.

A big part of this plan is Build Canada Homes. This new federal agency is funded to make large scale construction easier and faster. That means more affordable housing, more community housing, and more multi-unit buildings that Canadian families can actually afford.

Budget 2025 also expands financing tools so builders can get projects moving. Increasing the Canada Mortgage Bond limit gives lenders more room to support rental and multi-unit construction. That means more opportunities for new projects in Quebec and in our community of Vaudreuil.

Another key piece is infrastructure. Municipalities often struggle to build housing because they cannot afford the pipes, water systems, and roads needed to support new neighbourhoods. The Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund is designed to fix that. Through agreements with the Government of Quebec, the fund supports towns and cities, so they can expand the basic services that make new homes possible.

Here in our community of Vaudreuil, this matters:

• More federal financing gives developers the tools to move forward with apartment buildings, condos, and affordable units.
• With infrastructure funding delivered through agreements with the Government of Quebec, our municipalities can plan growth without putting extra financial pressure on residents.
• More construction creates good careers for workers.

Quebec stands to benefit in a big way. Our province already plays a major role in producing the materials needed for the clean economy. With stronger federal support for housing construction, we can build communities that grow sustainably while creating jobs that remain right here at home.

I will continue advocating for our community as these programs roll out. My goal is to ensure our community of Vaudreuil gets its fair share of the investments needed to build more homes and support the people who live here.

Sincerely,

Member of Parliament, Vaudreuil
