Seven years ago today, I was elected as your Member of Parliament for our community of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. Since then, a lot has happened locally, nationally, and globally. At the best of times, we have celebrated together. We have ushered in new events in our community, built new trails, bike paths and community centers, invested in more affordable housing for seniors, and laid the foundation for a new state-of-the-art hospital that will break ground in just a few months. We have worked hard to protect and connect with the nature that surrounds us, celebrated our community’s rich culture, and welcomed a record number of new families and friends to our community. We have also been there through more difficult times, weathering historic floods in 2017 and 2019 and then, only a year later, in March of 2020, being called upon to fight a global pandemic that brought with it economic and health crises not seen in three generations. Together, we’ve made it through it all. It has truly been an honour and a privilege to be by your side and to serve you every step of the way.
There is no handbook that tells you how to be a good Member of Parliament. So, no matter what has come over the last 7 years, I focused on three basic principles. Being there, listening, and working hard. I hope that for each and every day I have represented you, you have seen this approach in action through my work in Ottawa and, just as important, here in our community.
As I look to the weeks, months, and years ahead, I want to continue finding better ways to serve you. With that in mind, I want to hear from you. How can I do better? How can I better represent you in Ottawa? How can my office better support you and your family? If you want to share your feedback on these questions or share any thoughts about a subject that is important to you, please do not hesitate to respond to this email or reach out on Facebook. Your feedback allows me to do better and be a stronger voice as your Member of Parliament, and I thank you in advance for taking the time to share it with me.
I am just as honoured to be representing you today as I was seven years ago, perhaps even more so, and I look forward to continuing our work together. Tomorrow is day one of another year at your service.
Warm regards,
