Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Resignation

Today, after reflecting on the feedback received by caucus, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that he is stepping down as the Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, and as Prime Minister, following the election of a new leader.

I want to thank the Prime Minister for his service to Canada, particularly during unprecedented and turbulent times. I also want to thank him for the trust he placed in me over the last 9 years, asking me to serve in numerous meaningful roles and portfolios in Ottawa—roles that allowed me to implement positive change both nationally and in our community of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity I was given to do so.

As the transition to a new Liberal Leader and Prime Minister unfolds over the coming weeks, I look forward to hearing from you about the change you would like to see. Whether at my office, community centers, local events, the train station, or simply crossing paths at the hockey rink, I invite you share your thoughts, comments, and ideas about how to solve the issues we face as a community and as a country. Canada was built by good ideas that brought positive change, and the hard work and dedication to see those ideas come to life. This time is no different.

Above all, as this transition unfolds, I will continue to stay focused on what matters most to you, your loved ones, and this incredible place that we call home. I will work with community leaders, seniors' groups, small business owners, entrepreneurs, students, and community organizations to keep Vaudreuil-Soulanges prosperous and safe and protect the natural beauty that we all cherish and enjoy.

Sincerely, and with warm regards,

Member of Parliament, Vaudreuil-Soulanges
