Today, I am writing to share some important and exciting news related to my role as Parliamentary Secretary. Last week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asked me to take on a new responsibility as Parliamentary Secretary for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship. I was pleased and honoured to accept this new role, and on Friday, the appointment was made official.
Over the past 15 months, I have had the privilege of working alongside Minister Johnathan Wilkinson and the incredible team in the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change. We were able to move forward with important policies and programs that will leave a positive legacy for our children and grandchildren. I am incredibly grateful to have helped further advance Canada's efforts to protect 25% of nature by 2025, develop a detailed climate plan that will exceed the Paris Agreement's objectives, strengthen the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, and announce our plan to ban harmful single-use plastics. Continuing my efforts to protect our environment will remain a personal priority and an important part of my work as the Member of Parliament for Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
Building on this important work, I am looking forward to working with Minister Marco Mendicino and his team to strengthen and advance Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada's work in the weeks and months ahead. I invite you to follow me on my social media as I share the latest updates with you as they become available.
Wishing you and your family all my best,
Peter
